About Me

Although I grew up in SE Portland, graduating from David Douglas High School, I fell in love with the style and vibe of NE Portland during my time at Concordia University.  The classic architecture that fill the neighborhoods around Concordia and the businesses that reflect Portland’s personality made for an incredible college experience.  While at Concordia, I met my wonderful wife Deborah and we got married in the classic 1920s Acadian Ballroom in the Alberta Arts District.

Following graduation, we spent two years at Ohio University, where I received my Master’s Degree in History.  After graduation I accepted a position working on contract for the US Army researching and writing on historical topics relevant to the challenges facing American soldiers today.  One of the more interesting topics I studied was the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, which surprisingly dates back to World War I.  While I enjoyed my work, both my wife and I missed the Pacific Northwest and moved back in 2009.

I started my career in real estate and joined the Hasson Company Realtors in July of 2010.  Despite the challenging market, my business has grown significantly every year.  I believe my success comes from combining the traditional traits of a real estate broker: market knowledge, negotiation, and exception communication with my clients, with the latest technology: social media, mobile technology, and first-class internet searching/marketing.  I am dual-licensed in Oregon and Washington, so whether you are looking to buy or sell in either state I would be happy to assist you in your next real estate transaction.

If you are planning on buying/selling at some time in the future, but are not ready yet, I invite you to follow me on Twitter or “Like” John Blom Homes on Facebook.  I hope after seeing my expertise and professionalism you will give me the opportunity to serve you when the time is right!
